I am a light haired blonde with light eyebrows. My eyebrows were always a taupe/ash color naturally but now I find some of the hairs are turning white (I am 61) and my brows are thinning out. I have tried the powder which looked good and others but for me, all I need is a pencil like this one to lightly fill in my brows where hairs are white or missing and then a gel wand, like this, to blend and set. I don't like my eyebrows to look 'drawn on', so, it is important to me that the product I use accomplish this.
This one item does that for me. One could use a little brow powder over the brows after using the pencil as long as it does not make the brows look too powdery. I think this look is much more natural looking. The pencil is a medium, taupe and looks great on and with my blonde hair. The gel is a very light taupe/blonde so it blends with the pencil nicely for a natural look. I have heard that eyebrows should be lighter than the hair.
Not if you have very light blonde hair as I do! They would look non-existent! So, give them a little color to balance your face. My aunt always told me the eyebrows are the most important, as they 'frame the face'. Great product whatever price range you are looking in. Why pay more if you don't have to?!
Inexpensive, but looks like a million bucks

My friends always think my brows are professionally done. Most of the time, all I do is draw and gel them in, and ignore the stray hairs - they still look great (or so I'm told).
I'm glad to find this on Amazon, as Target, where I originally found this, seems to be out most of the time.
My other eyebrow pencil is a Chanel, and I find myself using this one most of the time.
Pencil works/clings to the eyebrow hairs. But gel is allergen.

As a teenager I had nice dark arched eyebrows that complimented my natural blonde hair. But they faded. And lowered. I didn't mind but wondered whether darkening them would make me look younger, so got this product, 104 Dark Blonde. It works perfectly to define my eyebrow hairs which are now otherwise the same color as my skin, not grey or white, mind you, just blonde. It is startling to look in the mirror and see eyebrows again. Jury's out on whether it makes me look more youthful. But this is interesting. It is important to do just a LITTLE darkening; otherwise it looks fake. But the pencil does work. Instead of drawing eyebrows onto the skin, its pigment clings to the hairs. Very clever. And effective.
Now the 'gel' portion of this item seems to be a separate story. The first time I used it I noticed a tingling of the skin, not a good sign with my allergies. The second time, after some hours had passed my face in the eye area had discolored and was puffy. These are typical of my allergic responses. There won't be a third time because I can expect a worse response, probably the severe edema and crosshatched skin that keeps me from leaving the house, it is so scary-looking. Sometimes the allergic response builds in this manner. Another reviewer noted a similar situation.
I have laboriously copied this list of ingredients from the back of my package: PENCIL INGREDIENTS: polyethylene, hydrogenated polyisobutene, dimethicone, polymethylsilsesquioxane, mica, rhus succedanea cera (rhus succedanea fruit wax), sorbic acid, tocopherol, ascorbyl palmatate, lecithin, glyceryl stearate, glyceryl oleate, citric acid. MAY CONTAIN: [+/-: titanium dioxide (Cl 77891), iron oxides (Cl 77491, 77492, 77499), bismuth oxychloride (Cl 77163)] 22304. GEL INGREDIENTS: isododecane, trisiloxane, silica, paraffin, polysilicone-6, dimethicone, acrylates/dimethicone copolymer, PPG 12/SMDI copolymer, distearimonium hectorite, trihydroxystearin, propylene carbonate, dimethicone crosspolymer, phenoxyethanol, capryl glycol, 1, 2-hexanediol. MAY CONTAIN: [=/-: mica, iron oxides (Cl 77491, 77492, 77499), titanium dioxide (Cl 77891)] 22087.
Please note the printing was so small I had to use 20X magnification to see it. I don't think I could have read it even when my eyes were perfect. In a way I don't blame the cosmetic manufacturers if they would really rather consumers don't read this list. After all, the chemicals, many of which have common names that would make them less mysterious, could be scary after they've gone to all the trouble of making something that works.
But we consumers must know whether a product we will put in or on our bodies contains something to which we are allergic. I believe the FDA should require the ingredient list to be printed more legibly and that it should be available in online descriptions and should not change - this latter aspect is one of the reasons, as I understand it - the potential of change - that makes the manufacturer and retailer wary of publishing ingredient lists.
Excellent inexpensive brow pencil (but gel might be an issue for the hyperallergic folks like me)

I've used the Clinique brow pencil and powders and the Kevyn Aucoin ones the most. Like those. BUT THIS..I find myself reaching for this one more and more and my more expensive ones are being ignored.
Hey, if cheap works, why pay 4 times the amount?
I have almost black hair and nearly black eyebrows and lashes (I'm Latina, mixed race). My skin is MAC NC42 to 44. I give you these base color measures so when I say Dark Brown works beautifully and "naturally" for me, you see what I mean. It's not black...it's a very dark brown that isn't so harsh as to look weird.
This one doesn't do as fine a line as some others, but I dont' have bushy eyebrows. Menopause and thyroid problems thinned out my eyebrows. I just use it to fill in the "blanks" >:). Works great. I have two and am ordering two more for back-up (I like one in my purse and one in the house.) I hardly ever need a touch-up.
I will add that the gel is nice for those who have unruly and bushier type eyebrows. I don't use it. I tried it at first and got breakouts in my eyebrow line. If you have supersensitive skin, beware that. I used to use clear mascara when I was younger to do to my (then bushier) eyebrows what this does now. It's still a great idea for "setting" unruly brows. If you don't need that, skip it. (What I will use now and then is MAC's brow wax, which doesn't irritate my allergic skin but will slightly tame stray, oddly-angled eyebrow hairs).
But the 5 stars is for the pencil part and (if you have tolerant skin) the gel is good, too.
Hope they don't discontinue this. Seems when I find a cheaper product I like, it goes buy-bye in a year...
